BOOM!

BOOM! spoke to the 28-year-old artist who resides in London town. Hi Alice!  BOOM! loves your pics – how much drawing, sketching and painting do you do in a 24-hour period? What’s a typical week like? Sketching is an integral part of the painting process. I spend on average seven to eight hours in the studio per day. At least two hours of that time will be spent sketching, in the conception, duration and completion of a painted canvas. My particular use of the sketching process is to produce rapid outlines as well as fully finished, detailed drawings which not only mark out the contours of the face and figure, but also serve as a process of analysis, to trace and capture what is revealed by my subject matter. When preparing for a new piece, I will spend whole days sketching in preparation. When painting, I lose track of time, and cannot be trusted to maintain a conversation or remember its contents for several hours afterwards! 'George, Fred and Harry...

I've heard this question, or similar, a lot this year, mainly on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and especially in light of the deaths of two very public figures (that I've personally felt affected by) - Amy Winehouse and Steve Jobs, while indeed there have been many simultaneous mass deaths in different parts of  the world. The mass of media coverage is one thing, corresponding action from the audience is another, and I guess the latter is what I'm referring to, in the main. From a self-reflective perspective, I think the answer to that question lies in two words - person...

Visited The Wright Stuff at Princess Studios in Bayswater this week with the multimedia team at New Wine International . It was a blast. Matthew and his panel - Steve Backshall, Lowri Turner and the debonair Charley Speed discussed gollywogs, phobias, godparents and university. If that's not a mixed bag, I don't know what is! Poor Matthew had a bad back but was a consummate professional... Thought we were going to see Gabby Logan on The Wright Stuff Extra , but she was away this week so Kaye Adams took her place. Rachel Shenton (Mitzeee from Hollyoaks) who does look so much like Cheryl Cole, free schools and teachers, skateboarding dads and blogger extraordinaire Poopy Dinsey of What I Wore Today fame were the order of the day.     A star was born in the midst of us... one of our group got an air kiss from Matthew after the show due to her eloquent response to the topic of gollywogs... So it's the last half of the year, I hope the first half was a good'un! But even if it wasn't, it's not too late to make it the best year of your life so far. Think about: how you use your time - after all, time=life what matters most to you what drives you mad what makes you happy who you could help who you could ask for help where you are most needed and find satisfaction. Don't beat yourself up. Just switch it up and start with one decision - that's all it takes! Have a brilliant weekend x

So I didn't complete the whole 30 days of creativity but I did 22 of 'em, which is pretty cool. I definitely intend to do it again next year!
