Exciting news!

The Gallery of African Art (GAFRA) will be presenting The Power of One Woman, an exhibition of works by Nigerian artist Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, featuring pen and ink works, watercolours, jewellery and "Adire" textiles.

The exhibition will provide a body of work from over 40 years of consistent and dedicated practice.

The exhibition is taking place from 10th December 2015 to 6th February 2016.

It will also showcase photographs by Joanna Lipper, whose aim is to reveal dimensions of Nike's multi-faceted identity as a Yoruba Chief, daughter, mother, wife, artist, teacher, and social entrepreneur.

These events always inspire and encourage so I'm looking forward to going. A must for art lovers!

Career: Ever wanted to know how to succeed as a journalist?

Freelance writer Bim Adewunmi, 28, who’s written in publications such as BlackHair magazine and The Guardian , gives us some tips… Bim in the sun How did you get into journalism? So, what did 2010 mean to you? I hope it was a good 'un, the fact that I'm still here to make my dreams a reality is sommat I'm grateful for. If 2010 wasn't your best year so far, make 2011 so. ...

Health: How do you treat a cold?

It's snowing all over the UK, and I have no scientific proof, but weeks after I stopped eating garlic I got this cold - and it's not nice. It's been generally accepted is that garlic helps boost the immune system. I also love honey and lemon.  (Photo from http://en.loadtr.com/Lemon-412529.htm) What works for you? It may help us!
