Music: Whatabeauty! - Alicia Keys 'Unthinkable (I'm Ready)'

This, for me, has been one of the musical highlights of the year. I was so indifferent to Alicia's solo singles from the album The Element of Freedom I was tempted to not bother listen to this, but I'm so glad I did! Written by hard-working Drake ;o), the song tells of a woman placing her proverbial cards on the table and asking her potential (I dunno, suitor, lover, link?!) who is going to make the first move - regardless of who will start the process, she's ready.  The video is really entertaining, cutting through different eras of an interracial relationship between Alicia and Chad Michael Murray (formerly in One Tree Hill), but I just don't understand why she stops at the halfway point of a fight each time, if you're going to intercept, do it properly! Plus, barring the nasty haircuts, I think Chad Michael Murray looks quite cute. (I thought it would be released in the UK. Not so.) What do you think about the video? Alicia? Chad?

Music: A classic tune - 'Mirrorball' from Elbow

I first heard Elbow's music when I bought the Mercury Music Prize compilation CD in 2002 when I was obsessed with Zero 7's Destiny, and Guy Garvey's vocals teased my senses through the CD player as he sang 'Powder Blue'. It wasn't until 2008 that the desire for Elbow became established when I stumbled across 'Bones of You' on the Annie Mac show on Radio 1 and it was 'Boom!', my heart got arrested. But after I bought the album, The Seldom Seen Kid, I proper fell in love with 'Mirrorball'. What an epic ballad. The first throes of engagement in a relationship are explored as Guy makes a strong case for extended metaphors in songs. I relish them all.

Sport: Team England woz Robbed - but we all make mistakes

Rob Green. On Saturday 12th June 2010, millions of people across the English isle witnessed scenes they wished were nothing but a nightmare. During a football (soccer to the Yanks) match, the goalie (Green) let slip a ball that dribbled into the goal, meaning that let go of two points in the process. I myself was caught up in the anger hype and was initially upset, but then thought, how many of us make mistakes and people become so quick to become angry over it? What good is it getting enraged over a result that can't be changed? Not much. It may be cathartic initially, but if it lingers, it's time to let go, mate. He did make a great save afterwards, but oftentimes that doesn't make the headlines. Yes, we were robbed, but we all make mistakes, and if we learn from them then hopefully we can be all the better for it.

Self: I Need an Even Balance in 2010

In 2010, I NEED to be BALANCED. Restin' when I need to rest, working when I need to work. Learn what I need to learn - and teach what I need to teach - life is about: giving and taking ebbs and flows. I'm going to deal as gracefully as I can with the high and lows of life. So here's to a BALANCED 2010. Happy New Year to YOU!!! xoxo

Love: The People I Want to Thank in 2009

It's soon to be the start of a New Year, I want to say thanks to some people: Thank you to my friends and family members who have made it their mission to help me progress mentally, physically and spiritually. God bless you. I pray I do the same. Thank you to those who have left my life: I have learned many lessons from you and I wish you the best. Thank you God for never giving up on me ;o) Love you lots! xoxo
