Art: Idris Elba

I'm looking forward to watching the next series of Luther . I'm not sure when it's coming back... Autumn says the press release, so I'm guessing September? In anticipation, I drew him (as you do)... Update - it's June! Here's the trailer ! Are you a Luther fan?

Lifestyle: So here's to Willie & Kate (The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge)

I drew the happy couple because I felt like it. Kate looked bloomin' beautiful in her Grace Kelly-inspired dress: Source: http://shelleysmucker.blogspot.com/2011/04/wedding-fit-for-king.html In the midst of the pomp and pageantry, we learnt seven things: Strapless wedding dresses may die You don't need to give your bridesmaids garish colours to stand out ( a classic cream dress that clings to their silhouette may do it for them ) Simple looks good (see above) Prince Harry is tha man James Middleton is tha man Sam Cam can let you down in the fashion stakes Waiting can work Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1381815/Royal-Wedding-William-Kates-kiss-signals-great-future-together.html?ito=feeds-newsxml What were your thoughts about the Royal Wedding? Style: Short and sweet - the Style Canteen crew

(From left) David Nyanzi, Jamilah, Sampson Soboye and Leigh Odimah On Monday I stumbled across what looked like a professional photo shoot in Shoreditch. I got excited and decided to butt in and ask what was going on. It turns out it was the talented @stylecanteen crew doing a shoot for a tights (pantyhose) range in collaboration with designer Sampson Soboye of Soboye Soong , modelled by Jamilah by ThePrimaDonnaWrites and photographed by David Nyanzi of The Nyazi Report . I'm looking forward to seeing the results. I'm sure it'll be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Update: one week later 18.04.11 - here are the results ... The model Jamilah blogs too !

Career: Ever wanted to know how to succeed as a journalist?

Freelance writer Bim Adewunmi, 28, who’s written in publications such as BlackHair magazine and The Guardian , gives us some tips… Bim in the sun How did you get into journalism? I decided to be a journalist when I was 18. It sounds slightly immodest to say that I was always good at English, but I was – it was my favourite subject through all my school years. I dallied with the idea of pharmacology before coming to my senses – I can only assume I was drunk or high to think that was a good choice – and so alongside my A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology, I tacked on an AS-Level in Media.  After a year out spent working and travelling in America, I went to Bournemouth University and did a degree in Multimedia Journalism. It was a great course and I’m really grateful I did it. I learned old-fashioned journalism skills – teeline shorthand, newspaper reporting, the basic rules of writing copy – and also benefited from a great teaching staff of working j...

Life: What is International Women's Day (and month) about?

Three ladies I admire: (top left) Florence Welch, (centre) Kerry Washington and (top right) Aaliyah I can understand why people (mainly men) question the validity of IWD and IWM. After all, the original reason why it was formed no longer applies, does it - it's been YEARS since women got the right to vote and pay is getting more equal than ever, right? Well, not entirely. In some parts of the Middle East, voting is still restricted for women, and let's not pretend that all women can vote under oppressive regimes all around the world, even if they are legitimately entitled to do so. As for salaries, females are still getting paid on average 17% less of a man's wage . But here's where I'm going to be somewhat controversial. In the 21st century and certainly in the Western world, men cannot be fully blamed for the position women find themselves in now. Take, for example, pay. A woman in a well-to-do firm in the UK or US, for example, may be unsati...

Art: Joe Simpson: Your New Best Friend…

… well, that's according to his Twitter bio, anyway. Ebunola Adenipekun talked to the 26-year-old portrait artist who’s managed to merge his (and many others') two loves: music and art Joe doin' what he does best - paintin' masterpieces How much art do you do in a day? Today, for example. Are you an night owl, early lark… or both? I try and keep normal-ish working hours – generally I go into my studio about 9am to 6pm on weekdays and have weekends off. I do this so that I’m in line with other people and it’s easier to make social arrangements. I spend a long time on my own in my studio so I need to interact with people in the evenings to stay sane! Sometimes, when I want to accelerate progress I’ll do long stints and stay late (and become less sane), I very rarely do anything before 9am though.  Joe at Brighton There’s always been that cliché of artists starving for their craft. Have you always worked as an artist and/or had other jobs in addition...

Music: Marlena Shaw - Woman of the Ghetto (1969)

Besides the addictive 'Ging, gi-gi-gi-gi-ging', the song wraps up messages of civil rights, equality, the poverty trap, freedom and hope...
